An explosion destroyed part of the Warsaw–Lublin railway line on Sunday, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed. Authorities are treating the incident as sabotage, according to reports from Novinky.cz and Reuters.

A section of the Warsaw–Lublin railway line was severely damaged by an explosive device on Sunday, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed. According to information reported by Novinky.cz and Reuters, the authorities are treating the incident as an act of sabotage. No injuries were reported.

The explosion occurred near the village of Mika, where part of the track was destroyed. Emergency services and the state prosecutor’s office are investigating the site. Tusk added that additional damage was later identified further along the same route toward Lublin.

In a statement on X, Tusk described the event as a "unprecedented act of sabotage aimed at the security of Poland and its citizens." He noted that the line is strategically important, including for the transport of aid to Ukraine. "The investigation is ongoing. As in similar past cases, the perpetrators will be found, whoever stands behind them," he said.

Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński also stated that "there is no doubt this was sabotage," while the spokesperson for Poland’s special services, Jacek Dobrzyński, said the case is being handled with the highest priority.

Local police reported that the alarm was raised by a train driver who noticed a missing section of rail near the village of Życzyn in the Mazovia region. At the time, two passengers and several railway staff were on board, but none were injured.

Reuters recalled that Poland has previously warned that its role as a major hub for international support to Ukraine could make it a target for hostile sabotage attempts. Moscow has repeatedly denied involvement in such incidents.
