Commercial passenger services on the Dakar–AIBD section are planned before the end of the first half of 2026, subject to completion of testing and safety certification.

APIX-SA, Senegal’s public agency responsible for the development and delivery of major infrastructure projects, has completed system integration testing on the Dakar–Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) section of Phase 2 of the Regional Express Train (TER).

The tests covered traction power, signalling, rolling stock and infrastructure and confirmed interoperability across the airport branch. This step closes the system integration stage on the Dakar–AIBD corridor.

TER passenger services were suspended between 12 and 14 December 2025 to allow testing activities. More than 100 specialists, including international and local railway experts, were involved.

The remaining works before passenger operation consist of performance testing and speed trials. These will be carried out in line with regulatory requirements and international railway standards, under the supervision of the National TER Company (SENTER), acting as railway safety authority.
