Officials of Siemens Mobility, České dráhy (ČD) and its subsidiary DPOV have signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of service.

The contract combines the service, technical and technological capabilities of both companies and introduces a new approach to the maintenance of Vectron locomotives. The main objective is to ensure efficient and high quality maintenance, from preventive measures to higher levels of revision maintenance.

“The cooperation with Siemens Mobility is a key step to improve our market position and to increase the quality of our services. The new Vectron locomotives represent a significant step towards further modernisation of our rolling stock,” said Michal Krapinec, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of České dráhy.

By signing this contract, ČD and Siemens Mobility are continuing their long-standing and successful cooperation. ČD was the first operator to order fifty interoperable Siemens Vectron MS multi-system electric locomotives for a speed of 230 km/h in March 2022. The new generation of Vectrons will be delivered by Siemens in stages from December 2025. With a maximum operating speed of 230 km/h, these locomotives can be used on both conventional and high-speed railway lines. ČD plans to use these locomotives on international rail services to Germany, Austria, Denmark, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland.

Roman Kokšal, Managing Director of Siemens Mobility in the Czech Republic, said: "The extension of our cooperation with the České dráhy Group in the area of vehicle maintenance will enable Siemens Mobility to add additional locations in the Czech Republic to its European rolling stock service network. I believe that this agreement will open up further opportunities for the Czech service team to work together on other vehicles manufactured by our company".

Under the signed agreement, Siemens Mobility will provide the national operator with systematic and methodical supervision of service activities, while the ČD and DPOV workshops will contribute their technological capacities, repair facilities and professional staff.
