Siemens Mobility has announced the appointment of Tomasz Prejs as the new CEO of its Polish division, effective September 2024.
Tomasz Prejs brings a wealth of experience in the rail industry, having spent 14 years at Stadler's Polish branch, where he served as Managing Director and President of the Management Board. His background includes work with Honda Engineering Europe in the UK and academic credentials from the Warsaw University of Technology, where he completed both his master’s and PhD studies in Production Engineering.
Poland remains a key market for Siemens Mobility, with significant opportunities in rolling stock and rail infrastructure. Prejs’s extensive industry experience is expected to contribute to the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence in Poland and across Europe. His leadership will focus on the transfer of advanced technologies and fostering closer partnerships with Polish industry players.
In February 2024, Siemens Mobility signed a framework agreement with CARGOUNIT for the supply of up to 100 modern multi-system locomotives, set to begin delivery in 2025. Under Prejs's leadership, the company aims to maintain its leading position in the multi-system locomotive market while expanding its involvement in rail infrastructure projects, including electrification and signaling. Digitalization will be a key area of focus, as the company seeks to enhance the intelligence, efficiency, and safety of rail transport in Poland.
Siemens Mobility will showcase its advancements at the upcoming InnoTrans 2024 in Berlin, where digitalization in rail transport will be a central theme. The company plans to present technologies designed to increase train availability, optimize network capacity, and improve the customer experience, alongside displays of its latest vehicles, including the Vectron locomotive and the Mireo Smart regional train.
Siemens Mobility’s strong financial performance in the 2023 fiscal year, with global orders reaching €45 billion and revenue growing by 15% to €10.5 billion, underscores the company’s robust market position. Prejs’s appointment is expected to further solidify Siemens Mobility’s role as a key player in the Polish and European rail industries.
