Centralny Port Komunikacyjny has launched a tender for laboratory testing services linked to the Warsaw–Łódź section of the future high-speed “Y” line and the long-distance tunnel in Łódź.

Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) has announced a tender for laboratory and field testing services as part of the rail component of the Port Polska programme. The contract is intended to support ongoing quality control of construction works and materials used on railway line no. 85 between Warsaw and Łódź, as well as on elements of the future high-speed rail tunnel in Łódź.

The tender is divided into two packages, allowing bidders to compete for one or both parts. The first package covers testing of construction materials and technical solutions for the Warsaw–Łódź railway line, including subsoil, track structure layers, aggregates, reinforcement, bituminous mixtures, waterproofing, structural concrete and prefabricated concrete elements. It also includes testing of telecommunications, fibre-optic systems, cable ducting and wireless communication infrastructure.

The second package focuses on the Łódź long-distance tunnel, including testing of the tunnel structure excavated by tunnel boring machine and of the segmental tunnel linings that are to be produced in Łódź. In both packages, price will be the main award criterion, and the framework will run for four years from signature.

The tender represents another practical step in the delivery phase of the Warsaw–Łódź section of the future “Y” high-speed line, one of the central rail elements of the wider Port Polska programme. According to the current schedule, excavation of the Łódź tunnel is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of this year and continue until 2029.

The first section of the high-speed corridor between Warsaw and Łódź is scheduled to enter operation before the end of 2032, alongside the opening of the new airport planned between the two cities. For the wider European audience, the project is one of the most significant rail infrastructure programmes currently under development in Central and Eastern Europe, combining airport access, new high-speed capacity and broader network modernisation.
