Alstom has appointed Jean-Michel Morvan as Managing Director for Southern Latin America, putting him in charge of the company’s operations in Argentina, Chile, Peru and Ecuador.

Based in Santiago, Chile, Morvan will oversee all product lines and overall business performance in the region. His appointment comes as Alstom continues to focus on urban, interurban and freight rail opportunities in Latin America.

Morvan has spent around 20 years at Alstom, with experience in general management, profit and loss responsibility, and the delivery of large turnkey and consortium projects across several countries. His previous roles include Managing Director in Panama, Consortium Projects Director, and Bid Director for turnkey projects in North America.

Before taking on the new position, Morvan led teams working on the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) in Montreal between 2022 and 2026, one of the world’s major automated metro projects. He is a French engineer and graduate of École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers ParisTech.

“I take on this role with the commitment to strengthening Alstom’s performance in Southern Latin America. This region represents a strategic opportunity for our company, and my priority is to drive business growth in a challenging market, strengthen our relationships with customers and stakeholders, and ensure excellence in execution across all our projects,” said Jean-Michel Morvan.

Alstom currently employs more than 600 people in Chile across eight centres. Its activities include metropolitan trains, regional trains, signalling systems, infrastructure and maintenance services.
