CER Austria Cargo GmbH has received the standardised safety certificate (SSC) from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure, allowing it to begin independent freight operations within Austria. The certificate was issued on 1 October 2025.

With this approval, the Vienna-based subsidiary of CER Cargo Holding is now authorised to organise and operate its own rail freight services across Austrian territory. Until now, the group has been active in Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Croatia, and Romania. Austria is the latest addition to this network.

CER Cargo Holding stated that the expansion into Austria is part of a broader plan to strengthen international rail links. Preparations are underway to enter the German and Serbian markets next.
