This expands the company’s operational fleet of large diesel locomotives used for non-electrified freight, passenger and special traffic.

InterTourex has grown its roster of heavy diesel traction with the acquisition of another locomotive of the German Class 232 “Ludmilla” family.

Class 232 locomotives are former East German heavy freight diesels built in the 1970s – 1980s, known for their high tractive effort and suitability for heavy freight and mixed-traffic duties on non-electrified routes. They have been used widely across Germany and neighbouring markets, often for bulk freight and engineering trains.

The locomotive has been overhauled with life extension performed at Latvian Daugavpils Lokomotīvju Remonta Rūpnīca, with full-service support from Skinest Rental.

InterTourex is a rail transport and logistics provider based in Aschersleben, Germany, offering freight and passenger services, rolling stock leasing and consulting, as well as maintenance and special train operations. The company operates a mixed fleet that includes multiple BR 232 locomotives for heavy services, smaller diesel units such as V60 and V100 types for light freight and shunting, and electric locomotives of the BR 143 class for medium-weight traffic.

Beyond core transport operations, InterTourex also supports charter and special excursions, industrial bulk movements and cross-border freight with its versatile fleet. Its business includes personnel training, equipment leasing and infrastructure support services for other rail operators.

The latest addition reinforces the company’s capability to serve heavy freight and mixed-use contracts on non-electrified corridors in Germany and beyond.
