Ukraine and Moldova have signed a protocol that should help increase the volume of cargo transported by rail and benefit the development of the entire Danube port cluster.

Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova have signed a Protocol on Amendments to the Agreement between their respective governments on Railway Transport. The protocol was signed by Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, and Lilia Dabija, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova.

The new protocol is a significant development for trade and transport between Ukraine and Moldova. It will make it easier for businesses to transport goods and increase the volume of traffic between the two countries. The agreement will also positively impact the wider region, as it will help develop the infrastructure of the Danube port cluster, an important transport hub for the region.

The simplification of procedures for rail transit is particularly important for the development of the entire Danube port cluster, which includes the seaports of Izmail and Reni. These ports will benefit from the increase in traffic, and the infrastructure at these ports will be developed to expand the range of cargo that can be handled.

“These are important changes for the further development of the entire Danube port cluster. At the same time, we are focusing our efforts on developing the infrastructure at the seaports of Izmail and Reni to expand the range of cargo. Last year, we managed to transship over 16 million tonnes of cargo. This is three times more than in the pre-war period. This year we plan to further increase the volume of traffic across the Danube River,” commented Oleksandr Kubrakov.
