Trenitalia France has announced the resumption of its Milan–Paris high-speed rail service from April 2025. This follows the planned reopening of the Frejus railway tunnel in March. The tunnel has been out of service since a landslide disrupted the Turin–Lyon line in August 2023.
The Frecciarossa 1000 trains, operated by Trenitalia France, first crossed the border in December 2021. Their return to this international route will restore the connection after an extended hiatus. Ticket sales for the resumed service are expected to become available soon.
Meanwhile, Trenitalia France has maintained its operations on the Paris–Lyon route, offering five daily round trips. These services continued uninterrupted during the tunnel's closure.
Trenitalia is the first European rail operator to enter the French market, marking three years of operation under its Trenitalia France brand. The company reports steady growth in passenger numbers and visibility within the French market, with close to three million passengers transported on high-speed services to date.
The FS Group, Trenitalia's parent company, operates across multiple European markets and globally. It provides regional passenger transport, high-speed rail services, and freight transport under various brands, including Trenitalia France, iryo in Spain, Hellenic Train in Greece, and TX Logistik in Germany. Its activities also extend to public transport in the Netherlands through Qbuzz and freight services in Romania with Rom-Rail. Beyond Europe, FS Group is active in the Middle East, North Africa, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas.
