Featuring 234 seats with back tables, charging points and improved accessibility, these refurbished trains promise a more comfortable journey.

The first of Alstom's refurbished Class 458 trains have been introduced to the UK network by South Western Railway (SWR). Initially running on eight-car services between London Waterloo and Weybridge via Brentford and London Waterloo and Twickenham, units 458415, 458420 and 458422 - all in the updated SWR livery - will be used.

“The refurbishment of these Class 458 units not only highlights our expertise in train modernisation but also our dedication to sustainable transport solutions, as we work in partnership with operators and rolling stock leasing companies to encourage more people to travel by rail,“ said John Clerk, Head of Operations for Widnes at Alstom.

There are 234 seats in each four-car set, all with backrests, charging points and space for two disabled passengers. There are also two tables in each coach, fitted with wireless charging points.
