If intermodal is the future on rail, Container d.o.o. Slovenia (producing containers since 1998) and German company SSC Railtec take a step further. They have introduced a solution of a 20-foot open “car container” structure which can transport new passenger cars on two levels.
Each car can weigh up to 4.2 tonnes and the structure is compliant with a railway profile of G1. In this way, the UIC-certified structure can be loaded on an intermodal flat wagon and the wagon can be used not only for moving boxes of containers, but also these new types of structures.
