The new wagons are intended to integrate into the fleet to support increased operational efficiency.

MRS Logística has recently acquired 560 gondola-type wagons from GBMX (Greenbrier Maxion), specifically for mining transport. This purchase follows the company's announcement of buying 30 locomotives from Wabtec Corporation. The wagons are expected to be delivered by August, as part of an initiative to renew MRS's railway fleet. This move has led MRS to invest around 184 million EUR in their rolling stock in the first two months of the year.

The newer wagons would allow for more efficient operations through better asset productivity, energy efficiency, and reduced fuel consumption, which would contribute to environmental sustainability by lowering gas emissions. The increased load capacity of these wagons is expected to reduce the number of necessary trips, contributing to lower operating costs.

MRS Logística operates a 1,643 km railway network across the states of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo. This region contributes to around half of Brazil's GDP. The company's network supports a wide range of freight operations, including containers, steel, cement, bauxite, agricultural products, coke, coal, and iron ore, connecting production regions to major industrial parks and ports. MRS's efficient operations enable it to handle a significant portion of Brazil's exports and domestic rail freight.

Greenbrier Maxion, a key supplier in this transaction, has over 80 years of experience in Brazil and is recognized as the largest railway operation in South America. The company has a background that includes The Greenbrier Companies, Amsted Rail Inc., and the Brazilian company Iochpe-Maxion, specializing in freight wagon projects, bogies, and the renovation, adaptation, and modernization of wagons and components.
