The train is part of the SNCF Voyageurs framework agreement for up to 860 trainsets.

The Omneo Regio2N has become one of France’s largest regional rolling stock programmes. SNCF Voyageurs has ordered 567 trainsets for regional authorities, with the most recent additions covering five trainsets for Île-de-France Mobilités and four for Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

The platform has been in service since 2014. Alstom Crespin handles design, assembly and homologation, with around 450 employees working on the programme at the site. Across France, more than 550 employees and around 300 suppliers are involved.

The trainsets are built in lengths from 81 m to 135 m and are used in suburban, regional and intercity configurations. The Omneo Premium version is deployed on longer-distance regional services, including orders for Normandy, Centre-Val de Loire and Hauts-de-France.

The design combines single-deck and double-deck sections. The single-deck cars provide level boarding and wide doors, while the double-deck cars add capacity on high-demand regional corridors. Open gangways allow movement through the train.

SNCF Voyageurs’ Regio2N suburban and regional orders total 442 trainsets. Île-de-France is the largest customer with 157 trainsets, followed by Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes with 69 and Hauts-de-France with 58.

The Omneo Premium order book under SNCF Voyageurs totals 125 trainsets. Transdev has separately ordered 16 Omneo Premium trainsets for Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, for use on the Marseille–Toulon–Nice route.

The platform has a stated recyclability rate of 95% and a lower weight per passenger than previous-generation double-deck trains.
