Oceanogate Italia, a subsidiary of Contship Italia Group, has taken a significant step towards improving productivity and safety in shunting operations at the Group's rail terminals with the acquisition of a new CZ LOKO 741 shunting locomotive. The new addition to the existing fleet of three shunting locomotives is equipped with a modern diesel engine and 4-axle AC/DC power transmission, which meets stringent emission standards. The diesel-electric drive ensures optimum performance and cost-efficiency and prioritizes reliability and system redundancy. The locomotive's cab has been designed with safety and comfort in mind.

Nora Rossi, the General Manager of Oceanogate Italia, emphasized the importance of upgrading the locomotive fleet to enhance the sustainability and efficiency of rail transport: “Shunting activities are the link between the terminal and rail transport. Our goal is to ensure ever greater efficiency and productivity at the terminal, not only through new investments in equipment but also through the continuous training and updating of our shunting operators.”

Oceanogate Italia's investment in the new shunting locomotive is a strategic step in furthering its mission to promote environmentally friendly and efficient rail operations. By combining modern technology with well-trained personnel, the company aims to further optimize rail freight services to meet the growing demands of the industry while minimizing environmental impact.
