The cargo will be transported in special containers from Klaipėda seaport to Trakiškės, then LTG Cargo Polska will provide transportation to Bialystok, and from there the partners will transport the coal to Braniewo in North-West Poland.

"Both we and the market in the region are actively diversifying their logistics routes and looking for alternative routes to bypass Russia and Belarus. Poland currently imports coal through its ports. However, increased demand is encouraging the search for new routes - including the shipment of critical cargo via Lithuania from the port of Klaipėda. We prepared for the project very quickly - in just a few months. The first train with coal cargo has already departed for Poland," says Eglė Šimė, LTG Cargo CEO.

LTG Cargo and its partners Innofreight have already prepared the specialized containers and platforms for the first transports on both the broad gauge and the European gauge. The train will run once a week and will be able to transport up to 60 specialized coal containers per trip.

So far, the new route to Poland is expected to transport around 5,000 tonnes of coal per month. The company expects to increase the volume of these transports in the future and is also looking for solutions to transport coal from the Klaipėda seaport via the Kaunas intermodal terminal.
