A formal agreement was signed on September 10, 2024, by key representatives from both companies.

thyssenkrupp Materials Trading GmbH (TKMT) and HGK Intermodal have agreed to extend their ongoing cooperation in transporting foundry coke. This collaboration, which has been in place for decades, focuses on the shipment of foundry coke from Walbrzych, Poland, to TKMT's customers across Europe.

HGK Intermodal has designed a specialized container for the transport of foundry coke, known as the black-boxX. This container minimizes handling and helps prevent contamination that can occur during bulk goods transportation. As a result, TKMT has successfully shifted all of its transport from road to rail, aligning with sustainability efforts.

According to data from 2023, the rail transport solution using the black-boxX has contributed to reducing CO2 emissions by 87% compared to conventional truck transport. This reduction amounted to 7,832 tons of CO2 savings in that year.
